SERIES: MORTARR CONVERSATIONS

A WINDOW INTO THE DAYTON'S PROJECT

Dec. 15, 2021 | 12PM CT

The Dayton’s building had been a landmark in downtown Minneapolis for generations until it shuttered its doors in 2017. For over 100 years, 700 Nicollet was home to Dayton’s and Macy’s department stores, including iconic holiday windows that would make Buddy the Elf proud. The building's reinvention, by developers Telos Group and 601w Companies, realizes its potential while honoring and securing its place in history.

The reimagined building, a first of its kind for Minnesota, includes office, retail, and entertainment spaces, and of course, everyone’s favorite holiday window displays. Go behind the scenes with the project leads that made this reimagining possible, from Gensler, Gardner Builders, and Transwestern, for this month’s Mortarr Conversation.

Panelists:

Hans Okerstrom Property Manager, Transwestern
Mike Beer
Project Manager, Gardner Builders

Erin Fitzgerald Principal, Transwestern

Steve Bieringer Design Manager, Gensler

Facilitator:

Jen Levisen — Editor-in-Chief, Forum by Mortarr
